Acording to Hinduism, marriage (vivaha) between two persons is a sacred relationship that is not limited to this life alone. It extends across seven or more lives, during which the couple help each other progress spiritually. This is really hard to digest but 1 thing is for sure along with marriage comes a lot of responsibilities and if both the souls understand, the adage that "marriages are made in heaven " becomes very much true.
